Hi,

In my research lab, we have a subnet that was allocated to us by the
university. Recently, we have split the subnet into 2 clusters (one (the
new cluster) connected by 100Mb and the other (the older existing cluster)
connected by 10Mb ethernet). Each cluster has 2 sytems with 2 ethernet
cards that act as gateways onto the university network. Then, the
university network connects the 2 clusters. Routing is set up on both
clusters such that each cluster knows how to communicate with the other.
However, the outside world is ignorant of the subnets existence. The
gateways on the new cluster are running Linux. We have successfully set up
IP-forwarding and IP-Masq (with one hitch). When we attempt to rlogin or
telnet into the inside of the new cluster (not the gateway machines), the
attempt hangs and eventually times out. We think the problem is in the
masquarading. At this time, we have everything that goes to the outside
world masked. Since the older cluster knows of the new cluster,
masquarading shouldn't be required (I think). So, we were wondering how
(if at all possible) can we turn off masquarading between our clusters
while leaving it on for the rest of the world.

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance...
Matt Shirel
