Benjamin,

    Look in the /proc/net directory for ip_input, ip_output, ip_forward,
ip_acct, ip_autofw, ip_masq_app, and ip_masquerade.

    If they exist, "cat" them.  If the kernel is truly built to support
ipfwadm, then they should exist and will return field headings (and
content if configured).

    If they don't exist, do a "make config" for your linux o/s and turn on
the various firewalling options.
