[masq] ipportfw or redir ?

hi , 
 i was just wondering what is the difference between the two ? 

i am usinf redir from rc.local for my netbeui 139 port and putting it in
background .. 

do they behave differently , do they do the job in a different way ? 

 or are they pretty much the same ?
