Did ya set the gateway on the doze box to the IP of your linux box?

Also, make sure you've got "1" in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
    Do it at startup or: echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

I'm jealous if mediaone gave you an external cable modem..
