Hello,
I am running 2.0.36 (slackware). Masquerading is successfully setup
and I have used redir (shudder) to get X-windows working through
spacelord (linux box). Currently, I'm masquerading 5 machines from two
networks, one of which is connected to spacelord via a wireless link.
I'd like to get ipportfw running but have encountered difficulty. I
also have a couple of questions that I can't seem to get unconfused
about. I'd really appreciate some help.
In installing ipportfw, I would have thought that the option to
install would have popped up in the menu after the
make dep
make menuconfig
commands. It does not. I have applied the patch required and it seems
to have gone in correctly. Am I correct in assuming that the option
should have popped up? If yes, what could be the source of its
absence. Could somebody who has set it up give me a play by play of
what to do and what to expect?
Is ipchains specific to 2.2.x kernels? If not, why would I want to use
it instead of the standard ipfwadm? Or is that even the correct
comparison?
I have read (and learned) so much in the last week that it has really
confused me and at this point, everything seems to be blending
together.
Sincere thanks,
