I posted a mail to this list a while ago asking if somebody found a
solution to the problem that, at least I, was having with "Connection
Resets", today all my problems are solved (at least I think so) These
problems are mostly modem-connected somehow, people with cable-modems or
other solutions need not to worry.
It turned out that my masq machine had a slow harddisk, and that it
caused the serial interrupts to get lost somewhere, and data to be lost as a
result of this.
Irqtune sets the priorities of the interrupts, making the serial
interrupt more important than the IDE interrupt. This solved the problems
with "Connection resets", at least for me :)
You can find irqtune at http://www.best.com/~cae/irqtune/
I'm using kernel 2.2.6 and Irqtune refuses to work without the -f switch
wich forces it to load eventhough it finds errors in its probings. It works
anyway, at least for me.
(Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but a working dial-up is a must for
people trying to get masquerading to work, right?)
