G'day,
we have a number of IP Masq setups hanging of our main server.
All
pretty standard setups. Currently, I measure traffic using the linux box
that is doing the masquerading. This box has an IP in the same network
as our main machines.
What I would like to know, is how can I accurately measure traffic
through this machine from one of our main machines?
crappy piccy:
main box ------/ ISDN /---bridge(pipeline50)- IP-Masq linux box -- many
WinDOG machines
aaa.bbb.ccc.* aaa.bbb.ccc.yyy aaa.bbb.ccc.xxx
192.168.1.*
I have tried ipfwadm -A in -a -P tcp -D aaa.bbb.ccc.xxx and
ipfwadm -A out -a -P tcp -S aaa.bbb.ccc.xxx from the "main box" but it
does not seem to account for the traffic that I measure if I do a
similar command on the IP-Masq box.
Basically I would like to be able to measure the traffic "externally" ie
from the "main box".
Any ideas? Perhaps I am not taking something into account (quite
likely).
Thanks in advance, Dave.
