I was running 2.0.35 kernel and spent days trying to setup a single NIC connection
with no PPP and failed... Received a lot of ideas, but none worked. I know that
technically it is supposed to be possible, but when it came down to my time wasted
versus tossing in a $25 NIC, well, I quickly realized that on day 4 my time was worth
a lot more than $25...
