/* HINT: Search archives @ http://www.indyramp.com/masq/ before posting! */ Hello everyone, I've been emailing Alexey, the author of the IPROUTE2 source routing patch. Bascically, I wanted to give all of you a firm understanding of what the current state of IP Source Routing is for MASQ users. I will be adding this to the HOWTO soon. The "classic" question: -- I have (3) IP addresses on my single Internet interface via the IP ALIAS feature. I also have (3) internal MASQ'ed networks (eth0, eth1, eth1:1, etc) How can I redirect traffic from one of the internal MASQed networks to a specific external Internet IP address? -- The answer: -- First, this depends on the kernel version you are running. 2.0.x kernels: IPROUTE2 does -not- work on ALIASed interfaces nor will it EVER. Upgrade to a 2.2.x kernel. Sorry. 2.2.x kernels: IPROUTE2 will work but you need to specify to IPROUTE the IP address of the aliased interface and NOT the name of the aliased interface name such as eth0:1, etc. -- You can find the IPROUTE2 code at: ftp://ftp.inr.ac.ru/ip-routing/ --David .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | David A.
