Hey all, I got a stupid question for you:
I am trying to get this ICQ module installed on my RH 5.2 kernel 2.0.36 box.
According to the README that comes with the module, I just have to patch the
kernel with the ``ip_masq_icq_ker-2.0.36.diff'' file and then recompile it
and do a "make install" with the module and in "insmod it" and I am done.
Ok seems easy enough, I can do everyone but patch the kernel with the
``ip_masq_icq_ker-2.0.36.diff'' file. I have tried "patch <
ip_masq_icq_ker-2.0.36.diff" from the /usr/src directory and got this error:
[root@peggy src]# patch < ip_masq_icq_ker-2.0.36.diff
can't find file to patch at input line 4
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|diff -ur linux-2.0.36.orig/include/net/ip_masq.h
linux-2.0.36/include/net/ip_masq.h
|--- linux-2.0.36.orig/include/net/ip_masq.h Sat Mar 20 23:59:15 1999
|+++ linux-2.0.36/include/net/ip_masq.h Sun Mar 21 05:49:41 1999
--------------------------
File to patch:
I see that it is looking for a "linux-2.0.36.orig" directory. I don't have
one of those, I just have the following:
[root@peggy src]# ls -lag
total 7
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 1024 Oct 9 16:27 .
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 1024 Sep 20 08:46 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 666 666 2378 Mar 21 1999
ip_masq_icq_ker-2.0.36.diff
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Oct 8 19:19 linux -> linux-2.0.36
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 1024 Oct 9 16:14 linux-2.0.36
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 1024 Sep 20 08:55 redhat
Can anyone one tell me what this linux-2.0.36.orig directory is ,how I can
install one, and how to patch this kernel so I can recompile it? Thanks!
