18 June 2009 Thursday 2310 PM - 453.30R - security guard calls for ambulance at Lower Mills Apts - Apt 22XX - asian male - shortness of breath - dispatcher said "you are all broken up, can you call me on your cellphone" - guard apparently changed his position a little, and then was loud and clear
--------------------- 462.975R traffic 2312 PM - A2 sent to Ellington St 2313 PM - A10 sent to 00 Morrisey for unknown EMS at Citizen Bank - A8 volunteers for the call from Carney Hospital - A8 told to stand by because there is another call (pending) "around the corner" 2314 PM - A8 sent to 2262 Dorchester Ave, Lower Mills (Elderly) Apts - Apt 22XX - given as unknown EMS and as chest pain - A12 vols from Carney Hosp and is sent 2318 PM - P5 is sent to 2262 Dorchester Ave 2323 PM - A12 cancels P5 -------------------------------------------------- 8 minutes to send the medics Apparently 13 minutes to reach the patient and evaluate There seemed to be lots of confusion on the BEMS radio with units going out of service, and calls stacking up - one of the dispatchers even mentioned the "confusion" - the dispatcher even had to tell units to stop (intentionally) jamming each other - several mentions of "defective" radios that (I think) were possibly due to jamming Apparently the dispatchers have no reasonable means to track the locations of ambulances - units were being given downtown calls from Dorchester - in fact 2 units in a row were given a downtown call from Dorchester - the dispatcher finally got someone closer - 1 ambulance handed off a call to an Armstrong Ambulance - I dont know how that happened - another BEMS amb reported a minor MVA in JP with a (?
