5-20-11, operation "Urban Shield" Key points: -Over 500 responders for drill -24 hour drill (2 - 12 hour "operational periods, ie everyone plays for 12 hours and then fresh bodies) -3 main types of teams, USAR, k9/explosive, swat -During EACH 12 hour period, there are approximately 3 USAR teams, 3 k9 and 5 swat teams -Each of the three teams has 3-5 "tasks" to do in their respective areas spread out. For example Swat team 1 starts at swat station 1, then swat station 2, then swat station 3, etc while swat team 2 starts at station 2, then station 3, then station 1 etc. So each team gets to do all the stations and becomes a competion between the teams. The "stations" are all over, some in Boston, some in chelsea, some in quincy, etc, that the teams have to travel to. IE finish station 1 in boston, drive to chelsea for station 2, drive to station 3 in quincy, etc These stations take about 9 of the 12 hours
Then all the teams on duty for the 12 hour period report to Boston for a large consolidation event (Mumbai style bombing) for the k9s to work with swat to work with USAR 4 EOCs will be open, lots of people, lots of toys, LOTS OF $$$$ and hopefully some lessons learned http://bostonurbanshield.org/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
