These are some phrases you hear from Boston Fire Department dispatchers on the radio -
"Change of Assignment" means we sent you to XXX to do something but now we want you to go to YYY to do something else "Change of Address" means we sent you to XXX but you should now go to YYY "Are you committed?" - means "have you dropped your hose in the street or connected to a hydrant yet?" - or something along those lines - typically heard like this - "Car 8 to Fire Alarm, have a ladder truck come down Main St to West St" - "Fire Alarm to Ladder 5, are you committed?" - "Ladder 5 to Fire Alarm - No" - "Ladder 5 respond to the fire down Main St to West St" - "Ladder 5 has that - Main St to West St" "Check the still" means 'please check the source of the reported incident because we are not finding anything at the scene" - maybe called a "callback" by some agencies - FDNY might call it a "10-7" - or check the ANI ALI "Return to Quarters" means "cancel your response" ----------------------------------- When Boston EMS wants a unit to change radio channels, they tell them to "shift to (Channel XX)" When Boston EMS dispatchers do a "change of assignment" they say "we are pre-empting you" -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
