I saw Armstrong's new Sprinter ambulance responding to a call today. The units motor noise is quiet even when accelerating hard. The rear has 4 red LEDs and 2 yellow LEDs. They flash quickly and brightly - red then yellow - maybe 4 times per second. Two reds on top - 2 yellows below - 2 reds lowest about mid height IIRC
