On 453.10 R it is quite common to hear Boston EMS giving minor calls to private ambulance companies. Maybe once an hour. Maybe 6 to 10 times a day. McCalls Ambulance takes many of the calls.
The Boston EMS dispatcher will say "Do we have a private that can take a call in (neighborhood)?". And the private provider will answer and say "we have a unit at XXX":. The Boston dispatcher will say "that is good - the call is at XXX and the problem is YYY" It is simple and straight forward. I have never heard 2 private companies vying for the same call. And there usually does seem to be a private ambulance available when needed. Sometimes Boston EMS will transmit a tone before they start looking for a private ambulance. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
