To the City Council.

Dear Councilors:

I hereby submit for your approval an Order to accept
and expend for the benefit of the City of Boston, a donation of
lumber, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 in
value, for use by the Boston Police Department’s Special
Operations Division, Canine Unit, to update and replace
current agility obstacles, as well as to build new obstacles
used for training Department canines. These items will be
used in furtherance ofthe City’s efforts relating to train
ing and use of Department canines in a law enforcement
capacity.

I urge your Honorable Body to adopt this Order as
soon as possible so that the City of Boston may accept the
lumber expeditiously and use it for the purpose for which
it was granted.

ORDERED: That the Boston Police Department be,
and hereby is authorized, pursuant to section 53Al/2 of
chapter 44 of the Massachusetts General Laws, to accept
as a gift a donation of lumber from Massachusetts Vest-A-
Dog, Inc., in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dol
lars ($10,000.00) in value, for use by the Special Opera
tions Division, Canine Unit, to update and replace current
agility obstacles, as well as to build new obstacles used
for training Department canines.

On motion of Councilor MURPHY, the rules were
suspended; the order was passed.
