Arlington Mass had a working fire yesterday I would describe the radio comms this way -
30% doubling 30% feedback 30% distortion 5% mutual aid cover units 5% clear messages the repeater system worked fine - everyone that I heard was 100% into the repeater - however - just about everything else was crap I heard one guy in a mask - he sounded kinda distorted - he was told to repeat - it then started to sound like he was using daffy ducky encryption - I dont know what kind of mike or mask interface he was using, but it was the worst I am sure that no one intends to have a lousy radio tape - but if they save this tape - it will all be there in living color Dont get me started abou the dispatch consoles that CANNOT receive and transmit at the same time - jeez louise - is it 2015 AD or 2015 BC? Luckily - the fire went out - nothing flashed over - no one got hurt - no one was trapped These radio systems are so fragile - it really is amazing - all it takes is for 1 guy to click his mike at just the wrong second - and some vital mesage can get totally wiped out - even a 30 second message can be destroyed by a 1 second mike click - if you click at exactly the wrong time, you dont know if they guy said he WAS trapped or WAS NOT trapped - happens all the time -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
