Can one 911 Center handle all of Massachusetts?

1. Massachusetts has 351 citys and towns. Street names usually change
at the town borders. These are usually major streets.

2. State Police typically patrol the interstate highways. Local police
handle the local roads, and they respond to the interstates for major
emergencys.

3. Massachusetts terrain varies from flat to mountainous. Most areas
are forested with heavily overgrown fire suppressed ecosystems.

4. Massachusetts is a coastal state with extensive recreational waterway usage.

5. Cape Cod is a huge peninsula with just 2 bridges for access.
Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket are major islands.

6. Massachusetts has an large number of high technology companys and colleges.

7. Boston has a major international airport right next to its downtown
area, and right next to Boston Harbor.

8. 25% of the population is on psychiatric drugs - large numbers are
obese - huge numbers are dying from drug overdoses annually - the
present 911 system has lower than a 5% save rate for sudden cardiac
arrests.

9. Massachusetts has 6.7 million residents spread over 10,000 square
miles. Severe weather and emergencys in 1 part of the state may not
affect large numbers of people in other parts of the state.

Therefore - Massachusetts is not a flat, corn filled Great Plains
State; nor a flat range covered High Plains state.

Question - how accurate are the location infos supplied by cellphones
to 911 dispatchers in Massachusetts? Do these features work inside
buildings? Do 911 dispatchers receive billing address info from
cellphone callers?

Can one 911 Center serve all of Massachusetts? Yes indeed - that is a
fine question.
