Case number 1 - I have the map centered on Chesepeake VA - I type in 629 - I get suggestions for 629 Homestead rd in Cheseapeke - that was the address that I wanted - so I select it - bingo - no problem - I also got suggestions for addresses that began with 629 in nearby citys
Case number 2 - I have map centered on Norfolk VA - I enter 5909 - Google shows me five addresses that start with 5909 in the area - I dont see what I want - I enter p - bingo - 5909 poplar halls drive pops up Case number 3 - I am looking for 209 North George Washington Highway - that is not listed - but 209 George Washington Highway North is listed - bingo Bottom Line - the search engine for Google maps is pretty good - if you have a valid address it will bring you to the exact building on the map - if you dont have the exact address, I think it will bring you to the closest bld I could not find Bennie Hill Road yesterday but Google search took me to Binney Hill Road - so I was able to find the right address after a little while - maybe this indicates that Google Maps does not use the Soundex system to find similar sounding names Lats and Longs - I am not sure exactly Google Maps will accept at this time - I think it will take 41.484635 or 41 23 34 - it does require a minus sign sometimes - sometimes I end up in the South China Sea - not thats there anything wrong with that Fire Stations - Google Maps seems to be showing fire stations with red printing on their maps now - and the marker sometimes has the station number and the address and the telo number and sometimes a direct link to the page on the fd website with the station info Photo / street view of fire station - the fire station markers also have a direct link to a street view of the fire station - you might have to do a 180 degree swing of the view sometimes -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
