Talking points regarding openness

At some point a police officer will be killed by a perp with a gun in
one hand, and a scanner in the other hand. There will be howls and
screams to encrypt all police radio channels.

However -

poor physical fitness.

2. Scanners have been commonly available in the USA since the late 1960s.

3. Power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely.

4. There is no evidence that encryption changes murder rates 1 way or the other.

5. All politicians and chiefs espouse "transparency"; yet very few of
them walk the walk. No more than 100 agencies in the USA have official
live scanner audio feeds - out of possibly 50,000 agencies and maybe
150,000 radio channels.

Etc

At some point a terrorist with a bomb and a scanner will kill 1,000 people.
