police have lower cancer rates in general because they are in better
physical condition than the general public

NYPD cancer rates went up 50% from 2002 to 2014. Better medical tests
may account for the rise. The largest increases in the cancer rates
happened in four relatively rare cancer types: malignant brain tumors,
kidney cancer, thyroid cancer and non-Hodkin’s lymphona.

(I wonder how that compares to the general public?)
