Last night 460.35 R (Boston Police Ch 1 / special events) was patched
to 470.5625 R (BAPERN 4 - police mutual aid 2ndary for Greater Boston)
- this might be the 2nd year this patch has been set up - I imagine
that the patch extends to 800 Mhz and 700 mhz an maybe 415 Mhz and 167
Mhz.

The million dollar question is - what is the purpose of this patch?
Last night - 460.35 R was very quiet. There were just a few BPD
messages about taking up posts and a few all channel messages about OT
openings - and one BOLO from the T PD about a guy who was taking
pictures on the Longfellow Bridge 30 minutes previously.

I wonder if 460.35 R is patched to 470.5625 R because the 470 Mhz
channel covers a larger area than 460.35 R? Obviously this cannot be a
'boss to boss' patch because there was way too much 'non boss traffic'
on there. "North East Bikes" also came up on the patch last night.
They had found a lost kid and were reporting it to the BPD dispatcher.

Perhaps other BAPERN channels are carrying patches also? Maybe the
BAPERN channels have good portable reception in Boston ?

The primary police players for the event are - AFAIK - State Police on
the Esplanade grounds - Boston PD in the Back Bay - MBTA PD at Charles
Circle MBTA Station - Boston University PD and that other small school
on Beacon St - MIT PD and Cambridge PD across the river - all sorts of
police boats on the river (USCG BPD MSP Enviro CPD etc) - maybe
National Guard cops also - probably private dignitary protection also
(tuba cops etc LOL) - Mass General Hospital PD also - Suffolk
University PD on beacon Hill - lots of highrises at Kendall Square
with private security - Back Bay highrises also - there are lots of
people to try to tie together for the event on the security front
