if all field radios are now field programmable .... then maybe a good sop would be ... leave 1 bank open in each radio .... utilize 153.755 and 168.35 as travel channels ..... arrive at scene and have radio reprogrammed in the open bank with the applicable firescene channels ... maybe we should assume that the field unit has to travel more than 1 hour out of their home county or home city ... therefore radios need all channels within 1 hour travel distance plus 1 open bank the other option is to have maybe 100 local channels plus 100 mutual aid channels .. which is what the firescope list is basically note ... maybe instead of 1 hour travel time we can say 'any radio that loses contact with their home city or county needs to have travel channels available so that they always be in contact with some dispatcher somewhere' the big radio companies have created a very lousy radio system for the public safety agencies in the usa ... radios in 6 ot 7 bands over millions of channels using millions of pls and multi modulation schemes and power levels and code plugs and trunking schemes and channel loads ... it really is the mother of all clusters look what the medevacs did in the Northeast ... they said 'screw all these lz channels' .. we are just going to use 1 channel per band -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
