boston area simplex use - historic info

within the last couple of days have heard boston ems dispatcher on
462.975R telling certain units that someone was waiting for them on
channel 2 - possibly some unit called 911 via cellphone and told the
dispatcher top tell the 2nd arriving ambulance to switch to ch 2 for
simplex comms at scene

in california - they commonly give the dispatcher the ability to
listen to simplex channels - that is why the fcc license show so many
FB and FBN2 at the same sites - gene hughes of police call fame was
apparently a big proponent of this - but all of that institutional
knowledge is long gone and few on the east coast ever woke up anyhow
