just to be clear - nashoba hospital does not operate an ambulance afaik - there might have been an ALS unit from medstar based there from approx 2000 to 2010 - but ayer fd and groton fd and pepperell fd and townsend fd all operate als ambulances now iirc - and shirley and devens fd have bls ambulances - and there are more in the area - but if nashoba ER closes - then you have much longer transport times to an ER - but there is a medevac helo at Leominster now
maybe they can set up a procedure for that helo to pop over to the nashoba er helipad and to grab critical cases from the area - or not - maybe they will just do more scene calls in the area =========================== Audra Sprague has been a registered nurse at Nashoba Valley for 17 years, and she said a majority of the 490 employees at the facility have been there for “decades.” The planned closure would pose “devastating consequences for the health of our community,” forcing residents to travel “significant distances to access emergency care,” Sprague said. “This delay can mean the difference between life and death in emergencies,” she said, “such as strokes, heart attacks, anaphylactic reactions and many other emergencies where minutes count. If this hospital is allowed to close, there will come a day when you or a loved one will desperately need an ambulance, and you will remember these words.” -- shes got a kid ... together - https://youtu.be/IQQ-hxIwm70?si=8jrwZRcfZg-vN4Ye&t=237 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
