Mathopd does its own networking; you can't run it from tcpserver.

There's probably a way to run mathopd under 'svscan', so it
automatically gets restarted if it dies, but you're probably on your
own. If you manage to get it working that way, good for you ;).

I would suggest simply adding the above startup command to your
slackware system's /etc/rc.d/rc.local script.
