Thanks for the release! I'm testing the Debian packaging, and I noticed that the file lib/matplotlib/mpl-data/matplotlib.conf disappeared between 1.1.1 and 1.2.0rc1. That was a sample file that was nice to ship to users to have an idea what can be customized. We were also shipping it into /usr/share/matplotlib/ so a first configuration was already provided to users. Do you have something to suggest to restore the situation? I don't know if you like to add the file back (maybe in a different location) or if we should point users to the doc and stop.
