Sorry for my delay to get back to you.
The svn version seems to work fine with GTK support, at least my
application had no problems running
The versions I tested with are as follows:
python version: 2.6.0 final 0
numpy version: 1.3.0
matplotlib version: 0.98.6svn
gtk+ version: 2.16.2
pyGTK version: 2.12.1
