Hello,
I had experienced a similar problem when i tried to run a 62 bus system for
our national system, until i incorporated voltage compensation equipment.
owing to the size of the network, you may consider ensuring you have
included the voltage compensation equipment (reactors and capacitors) at
strategic load buses as it may be in the actual system. In case you need
information on how to do this, for reactors +Q is used and for capacitors
-Q is used, this is so because these are placed at the load bus and to
include these in MATPOWER all you need is to add the (+Q for reactor OR -Q
for capacitor) to the reactive part of the load and that's it.
