I managed to get my hands on a copy of A/UX 3.0.1 a while back and today's earlier thread made me decide it's time to ask for help from folks who may have used/supported it in the past. I've read over the FAQ, which doesn't mention much about the installation process but instead concentrates more on how to set it up and patch everything once it's up and running. I've tracked down only a handful of installation notes and anecdotes online, but still can't put my hands on a copy of the installation manuals (and can't seem to find the exact name of this document, though I found mention of it the other day on google).
Could anyone briefly describe how I need to go about installing A/UX 3.0.1? Or point me towards a resource I haven't managed to find yet? My last attempt at installing it was on an SE/30 with an 80 MB hard drive. I partitioned the drive for A/UX Root&User, then booted from the installation floppy, everything seems to be going well when the screen suddenly goes black halfway through the installation process and then it comes back up moments later -- but it's only a gray screen from that point on. I know I'm missing something simple -- maybe the hard drive isn't big enough, maybe this version isn't compatible with the SE/30. FWIW, I haven't tried installing it on an LC 475 with a full 68040 chip and on two Mac IIsi boxes with the math coprocessor cards (all of which have 1 gig drives). Thanks in advance!
