Hello!

I'm new to the world of old-Mac-ownership, having used them for years
without ever taking one home as my very own. Anyway, I'm quite sure that
System 7.5.5 will never please me, and my sorry Performa 5200CD isn't likely
to run any newer version of MacOS. Therefore, I'm trying to turn to an
alternative OS, and I was convinced up until earlier today that it was going
to be NetBSD, until I learned that due to a lack of Open Firmware on the
5200's, that it's just not going to work out.

Anyway, I'm looking for someone to refer me to some good resources for
installing Linux onto it. I've got minimal Linux and Macintosh experience,
although probably considerably more than most people who have worked on a
Windows machine for most of their lives (I'm editor for a school yearbook
that's given me three years of working in MacOS, and I've never run a
[decent] website on anything but un*x). But nonetheless, I'm sitting here
without a clue as to where to begin. What disto should I download? How
might I get it to boot? Is there anything I should know about the install
process, since the NetBSD docs claimed my 5200 was all but the devil himself?
I've installed Redhat on an x86 before, but other than that I'm setting out
completely into new territory without a map. Any help is appreciated.

       - Jasn
