I thought the StarMax was a CHRP machine so it could boot another OS directly? I could be wrong... > you'll need to know how to partition your hard drive. > Partitioning is the hardest part, and it's not bad. Even if you can boot directly, you'll need to create a swap partition; 100-200MB will be enough in most circumstances. My experience says that having a separate /home partition is also a good idea; it lets you replace the distribution. Unless you're doing something like editing video, you need a lot less space in /home than you'd think. -- Larry Kollar, Senior Technical Writer, ARRIS "Content creators are the engine that drives value in the information life cycle." -- Barry Schaeffer, on XML-Doc -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> Send list messages to: <mailto:max-list@;mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:max-list-off@;mail.maclaunch.com> For digest mode, email: <mailto:max-list-digest@;mail.maclaunch.com> Subscription questions: <mailto:listmom@;lowendmac.com> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> --------------------------------------------------------------- >The Think Different Store http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
