Well, there is a *port* of it to OS X sold by, natch, Daemon Mall (one of the BSD vendors). I've seen it sold at Fry's. I don't know if the generic distribution will run directly or if you have to use the converted version. > Also, what does BSD and OSX have in common as far as the user/machine > interface goes? Does one need to learn BSD as a separate system to fully > utilize OSX? It helps, but the only (major) part of OS X that's BSD is the userland. The kernel is Mach. Nevertheless, if you have had system time on a BSD box before (I was a University of California grad, so I cut my teeth on BSDI), you will find much of the same stuff. > 3rd and last question - can OSX run on an 8500/G3 Frankenmac? Use either Sonnet's OS X enabler package (if this is a Sonnet card), or the Rempel OS X installer (the URL escapes me, but I think Other World Computing still supports his site). -- ----------------------------- personal page: http://www.armory.com/~spectre/ -- Cameron Kaiser, Point Loma Nazarene University * [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Rational behavior is a choice, not a predestination. -- Kent Paul Dolan ---- -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
