Verrrrry briefly (and open for some difference of opinion):  FreeBSD is BSD optimized 
for the x86 platform, NetBSD's goal is to run on any platform imaginable, OpenBSD has 
a security focus.  You'll find more software for FreeBSD as a result, but many will 
say NetBSD has a cleaner design.  OpenBSD is more secure "out of the box" than either.
