Okay, here's how I did it I ran the installer off my hard drive, already partitioned. Booted from the RAM disk images. You need to boot off the 2.2 kernel, as there are stupid issues with loading the modules.
Be sure to use the mac53c9x=1 boot option to turn off the external scsi bus. Then run the installer as normal and reboot. Once you're back in the Mac OS, don't change any of the penguin options. Reload the installer. At this point, don't run any of the installer options...just arrown down to "Execute a shell" Once you have a prompt, mkdir any directory, for example "drive". Then mount your linux partion to that directory, for example, mount /dev/sda7 /drive cd into the drive directory. you now have access to your install of linux you just did. cd in to /lib. As I am away from my machine, bear with me for the last steps. rename the the hwclock file to anything else. Then reboot. Now edit the penguin options to boot off the hard drive, not the ram disk. The start up script will run and hit syntax errors when it calls for the hardware clock, but it will still work. I'll continue this later, time to get back to class.
