68k browser speed and function isn't the greatest while a gui browser under unix is less than appealing.
With this in mind I've tried exodus on a c650 and manage to get mozilla or other apps from a linux server. Speed is quite good, pulldown menus are not so great but it will browse at roughly the same speed as a normal 68k browser with most of the abilities it would have on the host system using little over 8mb on the mac. I'm very much only learning how this thing works so I expect better results with different applications over time. Just a thought for those of us with lower end macs and a desire to use some form of unix applications with a gui. A linux server of some sort is needed while faster ethernet between the two machines would also be nice. I haven't managed a xdm session yet but I'm told speed is less than wonderful, it would make for a interesting comparsion with debian on the same machine. -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
