Mac RAM? und der Liux?

You know there are times I really wish I weren't the type that just 
can't let something go once I have started it. :) Like trying to figure 
out why I am having such an intersting time getting Mandrake 9.1 to even 
get past the first text screen on instiallation. (and thanks Darren. I 
have done the extension and control pannel instalation into the system 
folder.  Rebooting into the Boot X contorl pannel, and selcting either 
of the availabl Linux kernels, makes no diffrence now. I never saw the 
second text screen ( hardware detection?) at all yesterday. Hmmm... 
something very interesting going on in the inards of this old Mac. PRAM 
zapping time perhaps?

As I have read elseware, Apple's 0S X is 'way' sensitive to what 
combination of RAM you have installed.  Would I be too far of the mark 
in guessing Linux would have the same memory issiues?  This old beige 
G3, of the late 333 Mhz flavor, came with the standard 64 MB chunk of 
RAM, and some where in its life someone has added an addtional 256 MB dim.

I am still making stabs at guesses for search terms in Google and the 
Mandrake Cooker, but as of yet, I haven't figured out the 'right' 
combintations.

Well.... back to the trenches... We will be victorus yet!
