Anybody got any hints for connecting a PowerMac (6100/60/8.6, 7300/180/9.1, 9600/200/9.1) to a Linux server (Wintel box running Red Hat 7.2)?
Any suggestions for a good source of information on configuring TCP/IP?
Samba is for use with windows file sharing so its rather useless for mac tranfers. What your after is netatalk as suggested earlier and is most likely on your redhat install cd's. It turns the linux box into a appletalk server. It also increases the startup time.
Try http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/faq.php for some background if your unsure, making from source is also easy but check the distro for the rpm's to match your system first and then a redhat mirror for the rpms to suit.
Configuring tpc is fairly simple and could be explained now if you provided more info about your setup. EG (gee, sorry for shouting) are you using the linux box as a router/NAT (opps, again) or do you just wont to hook two macs together.
