Some time ago (some of you might remember) I posted a message to the effect
that I had wiped out the Mac OS partition on a beige G3 box and as a result I
couldn't boot it up in anything at all.

Various attempts to fix this all failed.

Some people (thanks, btw) sent me various Mac OS rescue disk stuff but it was
not enough to allow me to boot.

I bought some CDs off ebay but they wouldn't fix the box either.

Then, today, I started working with Debian's powerpc distro. After a fair bit
of toing and froing I've not got the thing to boot - boots off a modified
Debian rescue floppy with kernel boot parameters suitably altered. Fair from
perfect - I am stuck with the kernel on the floppy (a 2.2.20 vintage) but I
have got what I bought this for in the first place - a Mac running nix to
play with.
