#mandrake on efnet seems to give alot of help if you are more comfortable with using IRC. My own experience with running linux on a ppc architecture has lead me to use gentoo linux (www.gentoo.org). It's very popular these days, and the forums are -excellent-. The installation may be significantly more time consuming than mandrake's, but the installation process doubles as an introduction to linux.
