Any ideas? Anyone here installed and used Rhapsody?

OS X Server 1.0, yes.
That is not actually "Rhapsody". Rhapsody was the developer release before OS X Server 1.0.
The last Rhapsody release had both a PPC and a i386 version, including a Blue Box for PPC runtime and a Yellow Box for i386 runtime.

I'm even thinking about hosting my Web pages from my server using
OS X Server 1.1. Is this an effort in frustration or is it doable?

I think you would be better off with a Darwin distribution than OS X Server 1.x.
The were a lot of changes to the developer tools since those first OS X releases, and most open source software packages ( i.e. apache ) require the newer developer tools. You may have to fiddle with a lot of makefiles and other settings to get software to build, if it will build at all. A lot of software requires OS X 10.2.x now, 10.1.x has little support, let alone releases previous to 10.0.x.

There are probably a lot of unknown or unplugged security holes in that early release, and the version of apache that shipped with it is ancient. Even though I mentioned Darwin above, I think a Linux distribution would be a better choice. Apple never releases security patches for Darwin, just OS X. The only reason I mentioned Darwin was I thought you wanted to learn more about how OS X worked.

It's sort of like saying you want to run Windows 3.0 ;)
