Greetings,

I tried to get a dual boot going with Mac OS 8.5.1 and Ubuntu Linux. I used the
Mac disk utility to initialize the HD with 2 partition; installed Mac OS in the
first one: it worked fine. Then I booted Ubuntu install CD, set the Mac HFS
partition as the Newworld boot partition, and flagged it bootable. I then
created an ext3 and a swap partition in the free space and ran the install.
Ubuntu booted up fine, but the yaboot menu doesn't list the Mac OS parttion,
and neither did /etc/yaboot.conf . What can I do differently to get yaboot to
recognise the Mac partition and boot it by default?

On a previous install, I didn't designate a partition as the newworld boot
partition, and the error message said "no New world boot partition was
found...yaboot...requires an Apple_bootstrap partition of at least 819200
bytes."

How do I give yaboot what it needs?

I need to Mac partition so my mom can use the computer for her AOL mail. She
can't use web browsers or mail clients except for AOL's.
