I had a weird thing happen today on our production sapdb server ... here
goes:

3 kernel processes caused disk I/O to go way high (i.e., hard drive light
solid) and the reported data amount used jumped from 18% to 30%. Upon
restarting the db the reported data size returned to normal.

Now the I/O activity has occurred before due to a glitch in the Tomcat SSL
connector but we have since upgraded to the latest and greatest Tomcat. The
item that concerned me was the doubling of the reported database size which
has never occurred prior to today.

FYI: No errors were reported in the diag_err file.

has anyone seen this happen before? sorry, but I do not have any kernel
traces.

[system info]
SuSE v8.1 (using ReiserFS)
SAPDB v7.3.0.34
Tomcat 4.1.27
Java 1.4.1_01

Thanks mucho!

Kevin
