Hi, strange things here: When I tried to connect to my SAP DB 7.3.00.34 instance on SuSE 8.2 (which was 5 minutes ago running just nicely) with DBMGUI to make a backup, I suddenly got
--------------------------- Error --------------------------- -4 socket receive error [10053] --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Ok, checking the running tasks I noticed that the "niserver" process was missing. "/opt/sapdb/indep_prog/bin/x_server start" should do the trick. Should ;) Because now with DBMGUI and DBMCLI I get: --------------------------- Error --------------------------- -24988 sql error [sql_connect ...]; 1,cannot create reply fifo --------------------------- OK --------------------------- I'm very sure that nobody changed some file- or folder permissions or whatever. With the SQL Studio I can connect, and with my application via ODBC also. But DBMGUI and DBMCLI are not working. The same problem we had one week ago. Then we made the mistake to shut down the database and didn't get it running again (kernel died before reaching blablabla). After two days messing around we finally did this: - renamed the folder with the database files - uninstalled the SAP DB rpms, - installed them again - created a new database instance with the same parameters as the "old" one. - shutted down the new instance - copied the "saved" database files to the new location - started the database to warm mode. *perfect* But now again. Anybody an idea why this happened and how to resolve this? regards, Axel
