Hello Joao,

aside from the problems due to the DNS lookup of the client address at the server,
have you compared the systems regarding general disk i/o performance? 

You may want to run a filesystem benchmark (I suggest the traditional 'Unix bonnie 
filesystem benchmark'
available e.g here http://www.textuality.com/bonnie/download.html ), and keep in mind 
that 
NTFS is somewhat slower than ext2/ext3 or even raw devices in Linux.
