I will be doing this. Actually, I'm writing a book on MaxDB/MySQL, titled "Enterprise MySQL." (Hence all the strange questions to the list about formulas, and so forth) The book will be published by No Starch Press, out of San Fran, CA.
In a chapter called, "Enterprise Architecture with MySQL and MaxDB" I will be looking at this topic in detail as one among other such "availability," topics.

I noticed the docs stated only AIX had been tried. Anyone planning to try this on a Linux cluster? If you are then it would be nice to hear about the details of the implementation.

Can you define a little more what is meant by "...a suitable memory
management system and a cluster solution..."
The full version of the documentation for "MaxDB Hot Standby System" is now available as a PDF at ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/maxdb/tmp/doc/MaxDB.HotStandbySystem.pdf
