Hi, yes I have to confirm this is a bug. It is not releated to the JDBC driver, it is related to the database kernel and will be fixed in the next release. This bug only occurs if you are using a unicode database and ascii communication. So you can workaround using a unicode communication by setting the connect property "unicode=yes" within the connect URL.
