Hello,

I have a new system with 4GB RAM, and I'm trying to allocate 3GB to a
MaxDB 7.5.0.14 instance. I can allocate just under 2GB without
difficulty. When I allocate more, the instance will not start. The
knldiag file contains this message:

2004-07-20 14:14:33 32203 ERR 15 Admin RestartFilesystem failed with
'Too many buffers requested'
2004-07-20 14:14:33 32203 ERR 8 Admin ERROR 'sysbuf_storage_exc'
CAUSED EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN
2004-07-20 14:14:33 32203 12696 DBSTATE Change DbState to
'SHUTDOWN'(25)

The knldiag.err file contains this this:
2004-07-20 14:11:13 32070 ERR 54008 MEMORY RTEMem_Allocator : could not
allocate me
2004-07-20 14:11:13 32070 ERR 54008 MEMORY mory

2004-07-20 14:11:13 32070 ERR 15 Admin RestartFilesystem failed with
'Too many buffers requested'

The system is SuSE Linux 9.1 with a 2.6.5 kernel, and LD_ASSUME_KERNEL set
to 2.4.21.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.
