Elke,

Thanks for your quick response. I tried to copu and pase following link in my browser
which did not display anything. It's a blank page.

I tried to investigate the issue further, but could not find anything.

My Data area is 2GB and log 1GB. Data is 34% used and log 5%. There are 4% session (9)
on the database.

Does this give any hint? Database is using UNICODE as required by my appliction.

Once the connections hangs, I am not able to open any session to the database which
includes app as well as SQL Studio.

During hang situation, when I refresh my 'Activity' window on DBM I see value 1 for
Lock Owner and 1 for Lock Requester.

Please let me know if you any further information.

Thanks
Rajesh

It is hard to believe that this difference occurs because of the different OS.

I think you have to check the size of your LOG area. Is your log full and the insert
cannot go on, waiting for an admin doing a backup for log?

Or: what do you mean with 'connections are dead' ?

You know of different isolation level making parallel selects and insert on the same
table possible / not possible with/without waiting. Please see
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/5e/eba664440a11d3a98200a0c9449261/frameset.htm

Do the selects go on further when your insert has stopped (meaning: the lock-wait
situation does not exist any more)?
