I apologize for this non-technical question but I have found references to two SAPDB classes that would be very useful for data base administrators and developers. However, neither the SAP or MaxDB websites contain any information on these courses.
1. Empowering Workshop SAPDB Performance Monitoring and Optimization(UMEW60) This workshop deals with the basics of the SAPDB architecture. It explains the database's influence on general system performance, and explains how database-intensive SAP transactions can be identified. You will learn how to monitor SAPDB components such as the data cache, volumes, and locks. You will deal with bottleneck analysis using the Database Analyzer, and monitor expensive SQL statements using the Command Monitor and the Resource Monitor. The concepts of the cost based-optimizer and the secondary index design will be explained. You will learn how to optimize expensive SQL statements and how to structure a performance analysis cookbook. 2. SAPDB Internals Workshop (WB550) This workshop deals with the internals of SAPDB on a detailed technical level. It is intended for expert-level users and administrators. It shows SAPDB's logging, locking, parameter handling, error diagnostics, storage handling, and other important internal algorithms and data structures. Are these classes, or their equivalents, offered anywhere? If not, is it possible to get the teaching texts from these classes? We would be happy to pay for an on-line course if SAP offered one.
